The Board and Management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) wish to inform the general public that the Scheme has put in place the necessary processes for the Newly Trained
Teachers to begin their one-year mandatory national service in fulfilment of the National Service Scheme Act 426 (1980) which states that it shall be the duty of every Ghanaian National at the age 40 and below who has completed an accredited tertiary institution to undertake one-year mandatory National service.
Furtherance to this provision, the section 7 of the NSS Act 426 (1980) states that:
1. A person who has not commenced and completed his period of national service shall not
a. Obtain employment outside the Scheme; or
b. Be employed by any other person outside the Scheme; or
c. Be engaged in any employment outside the Scheme, whether self- employed or otherwise, without the prior permission, in writing, of the Board.
In view of the above, a total number of 14,956 Personal Identification Number (PIN) Codes for the Newly Trained Teachers from all the accredited Colleges of Education in the country have been released to enable them begin with their national service for 2018/2019 service year.
Management is therefore, requesting the Newly Trained Teachers to visit the Scheme’s website www.nss.gov.gh to access their PIN Codes with their respective index numbers, and to proceed to any branch of Agricultural Development Bank Ltd (ADB) throughout the country to make payment of amount GH₵40.00 or GH₵ 41.00 using MTN Mobile Money to activate the enrolment process.Management urges all prospective National Service Personnel to ensure that they complete their enrolment process on or before Friday, 16th November, 2018.
For the avoidance of doubt, the following are the enrolment procedure that the Newly Trained Teachers have to go through to get registered:

Visit the NSS website https://portal.nss.gov.gh
STEP 2
Click on Check & Pay for PINCODE, and enter your Index Number or School ID Number. Then click Search.
Step 3
Your PINCODE and personal information would now be displayed for your confirmation. Please make a note of your PINCODE and visit any branch of Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) to make a payment of GH¢40.00 before online registration. Alternatively, you can make payment of GH¢ 41.00 via MTN Mobile Money and
Step 4
Proceed to the NSS website https://portal.nss.gov.gh to register.
It is important to note that Management of National Service Scheme has met with the leadership of Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG), Teachers and Trainees’ Association (TTA) and theCoalition of Newly Trained Teachers (CNTT) to discuss the laid-down processes leading to the deployment of the newly Trained Teachers.
At the said meeting, the Management of National Service Scheme informed the TTAG, TTA and the CNTT that, the Newly Trained Teachers online registration details with the Ghana Education Service (GES) have been submitted to the National Service Scheme for the generation of Pin Codes and subsequent registration for posting.
The meeting agreed that all Newly Trained Teachers will begin their National Service by Monday December 3, 2018
