President John Mahama is set to reassign the newly appointed Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry, Samuel Adom Botchway, following concerns raised by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG).
CLOGSAG had threatened a nationwide strike, arguing that Mr. Botchway’s appointment was unacceptable due to his status as a politically exposed person.
However, Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has announced that the issue has been resolved, and the intended strike will no longer take place.
“In the spirit of cooperation and understanding, we are happy to announce that the matter has been resolved, and there will be no nationwide strike by CLOGSAG,” he stated.
He further noted that the precedent of appointing a non-civil servant to the position, set by the previous administration, remains a pending matter in court.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that President Mahama remains committed to listening to concerns and working together to move the nation forward.
