The newly installed Mankrado of the Sokode Traditional area, Togbe Wusu Krakrani III, has pledged his commitment to serving the people of Sokode with dedication and humility, rather than ruling over them.
Togbe Wusu Krakrani III, who succeeds his predecessor, Togbe Wusu II, emphasized that his leadership will be one of listening, learning, and guiding the community towards progress.
A Call to Service
Delivering his speech during his coronation at Sokode Gbogame, Togbe Wusu Krakrani III expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him.
“As I stand before you to accept the sacred responsibility of Mankrado, I am filled with immense gratitude and a profound sense of duty. After 29 years of vacancy, this moment is not merely a personal honor but a collective opportunity for renewal and progress. I am deeply humbled by the trust you have placed in me, and I pledge to serve Sokode with integrity, humility, and utmost commitment,” he stated.
He extended his heartfelt appreciation to the chiefs, elders, and the entire Sokode community for the meticulous process that led to his enstoolment. He also paid homage to their ancestors, whose wisdom and legacy continue to guide the people of Sokode.
Unity and Peace as Pillars of Development
Togbe Wusu Krakrani III stressed that unity is the foundation of progress, vowing to bring all factions of the community together in the spirit of collaboration.
“Peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the presence of harmony and mutual respect. I call upon every member of the Sokode Traditional Area to join hands with me in building a community where peace and unity prevail,” he said.
Developmental Priorities
The newly installed Mankrado highlighted the immense potential of the Sokode Traditional Area and pledged to prioritize development initiatives that improve the lives of the people.
“We will focus on infrastructure, healthcare, and access to basic amenities. To achieve this, we will collaborate with government agencies, development partners, and private investors to bring tangible progress to our community,” he assured.
On security, Togbe Wusu Krakrani III underscored the importance of ensuring safety for all residents.
“A safe community is a prosperous community. We will work closely with law enforcement agencies to protect lives and property in the Sokode Traditional Area. The recent disturbances at Sokode Senior High School were unfortunate and unacceptable, as violence has no place in our society, let alone in our educational institutions.
“I appreciate the swift intervention of the Regional Minister and the security agencies in restoring normalcy. As a beneficiary of education myself, I will do everything within my power to assist law enforcement agencies in bringing the perpetrators to justice as a deterrent to others. Additionally, we will promote community policing and encourage residents to be vigilant in maintaining peace and order,” he stated.
Empowering the Youth and Enhancing Agriculture
Togbe Wusu Krakrani III assured the youth that their development is a priority.
“The youth are not just the future but the present of Sokode. Their growth is non-negotiable. I will leverage government programs and initiatives to provide skills training, entrepreneurship opportunities, and access to education for all,” he said.
On agriculture, he emphasized that Sokode has vast arable land and must harness it for economic transformation.
“Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, and I am committed to turning it into a thriving agribusiness sector. We will make land available for the establishment of factories and processing plants, creating employment opportunities for our youth,” he added.
Appeal for Government Support
The Mankrado appealed to the central and local government to support Sokode in addressing critical challenges hindering its progress.
“Access to clean and reliable water remains a pressing issue, and we urgently need government intervention to provide sustainable water solutions for our communities,” he stated.
He also highlighted the need for new classrooms in schools, particularly at the primary and junior high school levels, to accommodate the growing student population. Additionally, he suggested that the abandoned market in Sokode be repurposed for educational or community development projects.
He further urged the government and the Municipal Assembly to ensure that the modern municipal abattoir in Sokode becomes operational.
“The abattoir has the potential to transform our local economy. A functional facility will not only create jobs but also boost agribusiness and improve food security in the region,” he added.
A Call for Collective Effort
In conclusion, Togbe Wusu Krakrani III called on the people of Sokode to work together for the transformation of their community.
“My leadership is not a one-person task; it requires the collective effort of every individual. Let us work together to build a Sokode that we can be proud of—a Sokode that is united, peaceful, and prosperous,” he said.
