Chief Manager at the Communications Office of the Central Bank, Esi Hammond, has given reasons for the release of the new 100 and 200 Ghana Cedi notes which specimen were released by the Bank of Ghana today.
She said the introduction of the new notes was to speed up business transactions in the country, particularly for big businesses as their transactions usually involve huge sums of money.
She encouraged Ghanaians, especially businesses to patronize the newly introduced notes when they begin circulation.
She said the release date of the new notes to commercial banks for access by the public will be communicated to the general public soon.

The new notes are said to come with a lot of security features with some of the features reported to be animated, which move when the notes are tilted.
