NDC’s 24-hour economy mere slogan – Former NPP Chairman [Audio]

-

A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for New Juaben North has described the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 24-hour economy policy as a mere slogan.

The plan, designed to energise businesses that operate around the clock, includes a series of strategic initiatives to drive demand for goods and services in this sector if NDC is elected.

The NDC flagbearer, John Mahama has highlighted that the package would be underpinned by significant investments in infrastructure, security, and energy, all crucial to supporting a thriving 24-hour economy.

This system, Mahama explained, would reduce operational costs and encourage more businesses to extend their hours.

But according to Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang, the policy must be backed by comprehensive survey and data to establish its relevance.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Chairman Boateng questioned the feasibility of the policy, urging Ghanaians not to be swayed away by the proposed policy.

“They have not backed this with any data but making noise to confuse Ghanaians. If it wasn’t just a slogan, we must have sufficient data to justify why we must operate 24 hours,” he said.

Meanwhile, central to the package is a proposal for a “Time-of-Use” tariff system, which aims to provide cheaper and more reliable electricity for businesses operating during off-peak hours.

Mr Mahama has promised tax incentives designed to alleviate financial pressures on businesses and support their growth.
