Youth members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kenyasi, within the Asutifi North Constituency of the Ahafo Region, have vowed to leave the party if President John Dramani Mahama does not appoint Adu-Bonsu Elisha O’Shea as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi North.
At a press conference in Kenyasi, Godfred Ayariga, Branch Chairman for Kenyasi No. 1, accused the Ahafo Regional Vetting Committee of attempting to exclude Adu-Bonsu from the list of three candidates to be forwarded to President Mahama for consideration.
Ayariga warned that such an exclusion could have severe consequences for the party’s future in the constituency.
He emphasized that Adu-Bonsu, who was one of the 15 individuals vetted in Goaso, is the most qualified for the DCE role due to his significant contributions to the NDC, notably his role in helping the party reclaim the parliamentary seat in the constituency, which had been held by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for 24 years.
The youth members have made it clear that they will resign from the NDC and actively campaign against the party in the 2028 elections if Adu-Bonsu is not appointed as DCE.
Other party members, including Sammy Asare, echoed similar sentiments, affirming that Adu-Bonsu is the best candidate to lead the district and drive development for the benefit of all residents.
