NDC Women Organizer accuses Regional Chairman of using Police to intimidate women

-

A group of Constituency Women Organizers from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised serious allegations against the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore.

On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, over 40 Constituency Women Organizers submitted a petition to the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party, accusing Mr. Ashie Moore of displaying male aggression and threatening some leading women within the party.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, the Ledzokuku Constituency Women Organizer, Hajia Sherifa Sulley claimed the Regional Chairman threatened to arrest them if they don’t not apologise to him.

“We petitioned Regional Chairman Ashie Moore, but he disrespected us. He was mocking us when we presented the petition at his office. He called some of the women and threatened them with the Police. I was disappointed at a video I saw of the Regional Chairman using the Police to threaten the women to apologise to him, if not, he will have them arrested by Friday,” she said.

Hajia Sherifa emphasized that, their actions were not aimed at sabotaging Mr. Ashie Moore but at seeking justice and respect for women in the party.

She also pleaded with the National Executive Council to listen to their concerns and take appropriate action.

“We believe in the NDC as a party and trust that our executives will never sit on this case aloof. They will investigate and come out with the truth and give their own verdict. We don’t want to decide for the party on what to do with the issue. They should deliberate and come out with a punishment if necessary,” she stated.

The Ledzokuku Constituency Women Organizer reiterated their support for the NDC and their hope that the issue would be resolved to maintain the integrity and unity of the party.

Hajia Sherifa hoped the party’s leadership would resolve the issue fairly and ensure the NDC remains a party that values and respects its women.
