During a campaign stop in the Oti Region on Monday, Mahama explained that this initiative aims to nurture young talent and support youth development across the country.
He emphasized that the project would not only improve sports infrastructure but also create job opportunities in local communities.
“One of the policies of the NDC is to build stadiums in every region. So in the Oti Region, we will build one for you. Every region will also have a regional police station, and so we will also build one here for you. The NDC is the only party that will bring development to this region so that it will be recognized as the best region in the country,” he added.
Currently, the Accra Sports Stadium is the only stadium in Ghana certified to host CAF-sanctioned events.
However, under Mahama’s previous administration, the NDC inaugurated the Cape Coast Stadium in 2016—a modern facility that marked a significant improvement in the nation’s sports infrastructure.
