The Deputy Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwaku Boahen, has revealed his party will release a compiled list of ‘over-aged’ public sector Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) in Ghana’s public service.
Eight state institutions have been reportedly ordered to retire from their respective offices by March 2019.

The directive was as a result of the provision in the Public Service Act which enjoins public officers to retire from the public service on attaining the age of sixty (60) years and getting a possible extension of five (5) extra years.
According to Mr Boahen, the president has not been fair in dealing with the said CEOs because there are more people who are 70 years and still working, indicating that the president action was clear case nepotism.
“We are working on the list which will be ready by the close of the day. We currently have eight names and will add the rest by the close of the day because we don’t understand why he should leave some people in their offices and sack others,” he said.
Speaking to Captain Smart on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show on Monday, Mr Boahen quizzed whether the president did not realize the said CEOs were too old to occupy those positions.

“The president’s reasons for this new directive are not convincing enough; he hasn’t been fair to Ghanaians and needs to come out to apologize to them,” he demanded.
The affected CEOs who have been penciled to retire compulsorily include 67-year-old Eugene Ofosuhene; Controller and Accountant General; 68-year-old Kofi Jumah, CEO of Ghana Industrial Holding Corporation (GIHOC); 67-year-old, Isaac Osei CEO of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR); 67-year-old Kwame Owusu, CEO of Ghana Maritime Authority; and Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, 65 years, CEO of Forestry Commission.
