Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Dramani Mahama, has urged all party executives and members to stake wake during the December polls in order to ensure that the will of the people are duly protected.
For him, no party executive should sleep during the December polls and that nobody should sleep for 72 hours during the elections.
“None of us is going to sleep on 7th December,” he said, adding “I wish to assure Ghanaians that we are going to protect your ballot.”
Former President Mahama was speaking at a mini rally after he organised a health walk in Accra on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
He also appealed to all capable party members to avail themselves to be trained in electoral procedures so that they can serve as polling agents for the party at the various polling stations.
“We have to train you. No matter how intelligent you are, we have to train you in electoral matters. Training them will help to police the ballots and protect the party’s votes” the NDC flagbearer stressed.
Mr Mahama said after the party’s members have been trained, they will be deployed to the polling stations to monitor the process so that they will be able to “protect the ballots for us.”
