Vice Chairperson of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Anita De Sosoo has disclosed that she’s ready to render an apology to the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, on behalf of the party.
According to her, it is not right for bad blood to exist between the NDC and Nana Konadu who, for several years, was revered as the mother of the party before she parted ways with the country’s second largest political party ahead of the 2012 elections, citing some irreconcilable differences.

In 2012, the former first lady founded the National Democratic Party – a breakaway from the NDC – and became the nation’s first-ever female candidate to be endorsed by a political party to contest for the presidency. But late filing of her papers meant she could not contest.
Anita De Sosoo on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the uprising of June 4 at the Madina Social Welfare School Park, Monday, knelt and begged the founder of the party, Jerry John Rawlings for forgiveness.
“Now to my father – Founder, I know as your children we have erred and I also know that you are a human being and you [may] have also done something maybe it is not right [sic].

“And I was so happy when I heard you say that when you brought a statement out, rendering an apology – you are a hero. You are a hero. This shows that what you have thought me is still within me. If you are a leader, be prepared to say that I am sorry. If you are a child, be prepared to say that daddy I’m sorry. So, I will take this opportunity on behalf of the party to kneel down before my dad – please forgive us. Let us come together to build this country”, an emotional De Sosoo pleaded with the former Ghanaian Head of State.
De Sosoo also used the opportunity to advice her party colleagues to show respect to Mr. Rawlings and recognize all his contributions to the party since he has suffered and sacrificed a lot for the party.
Speaking to host Akwasi Nsiah on Si Mi So on Kasapa FM, Anita De Sosoo stated that she wouldn’t have any problems facilitating peace between Nana Konadu and the NDC.

“Nana Konadu is my mother; you can’t make it in life if you don’t know how to say I’m sorry. If she gives me the opportunity I’ll gladly render an apology to her on behalf of the NDC party. You can’t be quarreling with your mother for your life time. Even if your mother does wrong against you, you the child rather begs to ensure that there’s peace at home. Once we’ve apologized to our father [Rawlings] I know others are working behind the scenes to ensure we make peace with Nana Konadu.
