The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has voiced concerns over the Electoral Commission’s (EC) choice to contract YASARKO for printing election materials.
The party’s “Eagle Eyes” initiative, designed to monitor the ballot printing process, has faced numerous setbacks due to YASARKO’s performance.
The NDC’s Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, in a Facebook post, alleged that YASARKO has repeatedly failed to meet its obligations.
This has led to ongoing frustration for NDC agents who are overseeing the process around the clock.
Dr. Boamah highlighted that, YASARKO’s repeated “excuses” raise serious questions about the company’s capability and the transparency of the contract award.
NDC agents suspect that YASARKO may have considered printing ballots offsite, which could compromise the security of electoral materials.
Additionally, the team has reported cases of excess ballots being printed, leading them to establish an agreement with the printing firms to ensure that any surplus is accounted for before disposal.
