NDC PC threatens legal action against Salt FM [Audio]

Asante Akyem North National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, Kofi Asamoah, has threatened to sue Asante Akyem Agogo-based Salt FM.

Mr. Asamoah’s threat follows alleged defamatory comments made against him by a morning show host of the radio station.

The host, Samuel Acheampong, allegedly claimed that Mr. Asamoah received financial support and resources from the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament, Andy Appiah Kubi, to fund his campaign.

However, Mr. Asamoah, in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, refuted the claim, stating that all attempts to demand an apology and retraction have proven futile.

“If he thought it was a news item, they should have reached out to me. I even called into the show, but my call was hung up while I was expressing my grievances,” he said.

With the radio station within walking distance of his house, he decided to go there and engage management, but he was denied entry, leading to an altercation.

He accused the owner of Salt FM, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, who is contesting the parliamentary race as an independent candidate, of fueling attacks on him and using the platform to tarnish his image.

He asserted that the allegation has negatively impacted his reputation, hence his demand for an apology and retraction.

Mr Asamoah indicated that he has already engaged his legal team to decide on the next line of action.
“The allegations are untrue and certainly there will be a lawsuit in terms of defamation,” he stated.
