NDC Parliamentary candidate challenges Akrofuom MP on abandoned road projects

-

The parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Azumah, has challenged the Akrofuom MP, Alex Blackson, to account for four contractors responsible for the Akrofuom Constituency roads who have left their projects incomplete and never returned.

During a press conference in Akrofuom, Ashanti Region, Mr. Azumah detailed his grievances.

He identified the neglected projects: one contractor was in charge of the road from Tutuka to Dampayaw, another from Kojo Nkwanta to Dampayaw, a third from Aboagyekrom Junction to Amponyase, and the fourth from Amponyase Nkwanta to Adukroba.

He stated that these contractors have been absent for 3 to 4 years, with no effort from the MP to bring them back to complete their work.

Azumah argued that such inaction disqualifies Alex Blackson from effectively representing the people of Akrofuom and lobbying for development projects.

He pledged that if he is elected and fails to address the road issues from Tutuka to Kojo Nkwanta and Amponyase Nkwanta within his first term, he should also be removed from office.

He committed to risking his position if he does not deliver on these promises.

Additionally, Azumah alleged that the MP had hired people to threaten him for attempting to make the abandoned roads motorable.

He questioned the rationale behind the MP’s directive to discontinue the patching of potholes, a project Azumah and his supporters have funded using resources meant for campaign posters and billboards.

Mr. Azumah said his motivation is to prevent road accidents, expressing bewilderment as to why the MP would oppose such a project aimed at public safety.
