The National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus on Tuesday chanted patriotic songs and marched through the parliamentary chamber ahead of proceeding.
This was when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs abandoned the chamber after the NDC MPs occupied seats on the majority side.
Ningo Prampram MP, Sam Nartey George was the first in line and was swiftly followed by his colleagues.
They happily sang Arise Ghana Youth amidst salutes as they moved in circles.
The scenes unfolding in Parliament had been anticipated, following the controversy surrounding Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four seats vacant and the subsequent stay of execution of the declaration by the Supreme Court.
The turn out of event has become critical as both the Majority and Minority struggle for dominance amid legal challenges over parliamentary seats.
The NPP Caucus remains determined to protect their Majority side and continue their work without being overshadowed by the Minority.
However, the NDC caucus has also vowed to occupy their new side as the Majority with 136 seats against the NPP’s 135.
