National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
He cautioned the President against using security forces to intimidate opponents of his party during the elections.
“Mr President you the commander in chief of the Armed Forces, your word to the security sector that you are interested in a peaceful election will be obeyed, ensure peaceful elections,” he said during the launch of the NDC’s campaign in Tamale on Saturday, July 27.
For his part, the Chairman of the NDC campaign team Professor Joshua Alabi has said that the governing New Patritoc Party (NPP) will lose the upcoming elections on December 7 and hand over power to the NDC.
He says it is up to the NDC to protect the ballot during the poll, an action he promised party supporters that the leadership would undertake.
