NDC alleges manipulation at EC headquarters

Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has alleged a grand manipulation scheme at the Electoral Commission (EC) headquarters.

According to him, this has resulted in the disparity and inaccuracies in the voter register for the December 7 election.

Dr Boamah said this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, insisting the EC can provide an accurate register if they want to.

“I can say on authority that if the EC wants to provide the accurate and correct register today, they will do so.

“With the manipulation that has gone wrong with the register and because we piled pressure on them, they could not correct the errors and that has revealed these shortfalls.
they should go back for the correct register,” he stated.
The former Communication Minister further claimed the registers at the EC’s district and regional offices are accurate.
He therefore finds it difficult to understand why the situation is different at the EC headquarters.

“The EC should tell us how come in their districts and regions, they have accurate registers but they are struggling at the headquarters,” he demanded.

The NDC had earlier demanded an independent forensic audit into the 2024 voter register over what they described as irregularities.

However, the EC shot down the request with the assurance to correct the errors.

But the NDC has questioned why the EC has failed to heed to their demands if there is nothing to hide, adding they will not back down until there is a credible register to ensure a free and fair election.

The party on September 17 is expected to protest at the EC’s offices nationwide to mount pressure on the electoral body.
