NDC accuses EC of inflating voter register by over 3,000 in Ajumako Enyan Essiam

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of unlawfully inflating the voter register in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency in the Central Region by more than 3,000 voters.

In a press conference on August 28, the party revealed discrepancies in the voter lists used during the recent exhibition exercise.

According to the NDC, their audit uncovered a significant anomaly, suggesting that while the EC’s daily printouts indicated 1,271 transferred voters, their own figures showed 2,780.

This discrepancy, amounting to an excess of 1,509 voters, was confirmed by the District EC Director, who expressed surprise at the findings.

The party also reported that, the register provided to them before the exhibition listed 4,286 transferred voters, whereas the exhibited register showed a bloated number of 3,017 additional voters.

Furthermore, they identified an unexplained increase of 829 voters who were transferred out of the constituency but appeared on the EC’s pre-exhibition list.

The NDC has called for the immediate removal of the excess voters and demanded an explanation from the EC Chair, Mrs. Jean Mensah.

The party suspects these irregularities are an attempt to skew the upcoming elections in favour of the ruling party and warns that they will resist any such attempts vigorously.

The NDC has urged its members to closely scrutinize their voter registers and remains committed to ensuring electoral integrity in Ghana.
