NDA boss addresses allegations of missing motorbikes and procurement irregularities

Sulley Sambian, Acting Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), has strongly refuted allegations circulating on social media about suspected land sales, auctioning of serviceable vehicles, and missing assets.

Addressing the accusations, he described them as “pathetically lame” and lacking depth but chose to respond “out of respect for those genuinely concerned.”

Speaking on the alleged sale of NDA lands in Accra and Tamale, Lawyer Sambian clarified that the authority had explored partnerships to develop its liaison office property at Cantonments. However, the process revealed the absence of proper land title documents.

“The Lands Commission offered a 1.2-acre lease to the Authority,” he explained. He further dismissed claims of Tamale lands being sold, stating, “Nothing of the sort has happened.”

Regarding the disappearance of 24 motorbikes, Sambian noted that stock-taking efforts during his tenure exposed the issue.

“I directed my Deputy CEO to report the matter to the police, and arrests were made,” he stated. He criticized individuals attempting to incite protests over these arrests, emphasizing that the case remains under police investigation.

Addressing the procurement and sale of tricycles, he assured the public that the initiative was carried out through due process and emphasized, “Neither the board chairman nor I have any relationship with the supplier.”

Sambian also responded to claims of a missing Toyota Hilux that had been assigned to the board chairman. “The pickup had already been designated for his use before I assumed office. It’s absurd to label a vehicle in the chairman’s possession as missing,” he said.

On the auctioning of vehicles, the CEO confirmed that the process was initiated before his tenure and followed due procedures, with all proceeds lodged in a government account.

Sambian expressed disappointment with media outlets that failed to verify the allegations before publication. “None of them contacted me or the board chairman, which contravenes acceptable journalist.
