As Ghana prepares for its crucial elections on December 7, 2024, the Ablekuma West Municipal office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the St. Margaret Mary Senior High School Civic Education Club and members of the school’s Cadet Corps in Dansoman, organized a peace walk on Wednesday, 4th December 2024.
The event was held under the theme: “Together We Can Build Ghana, So Get Involved” and aimed to promote harmony and prevent electoral violence during this critical period in the nation’s history.
The peace walk commenced at the St. Margaret Mary SHS premises, proceeding through the Dansoman SSNIT Flat, the Dansoman Keep Fit Road, and culminating at the Dansoman Roundabout.
Addressing the participants, Ms. Georgina Ohemeng, NCCE Municipal Director, emphasized the pivotal role of the youth in ensuring peace during the electoral process.
She urged the young people to reject electoral violence, resist exploitation by political actors, and support transparency in the operations of the Electoral Commission.
Mr. Martin Osei, Patron of the Civic Education Club, also addressed the gathering.
He reinforced the importance of the Commission’s efforts in fostering civic responsibility among the youth and highlighted the significance of their active participation in promoting peace and development.
