As part of effort to enhance security and safety in the country, the National Security operatives, has called on Ghanaians to actively participate in the fight against crime by sharing vital information with security agencies.
During a community engagement in the Buem-Jasikan College of Education, Likpe, Poase Cement, Pampawe in the Kadjebi districts, the Oti Regional National Security Coordinator Nana Afram-Darko emphasized the critical role that residents play in identifying and reporting suspicious activities.
He touched on government’s “If You See Something Say Something” initiative which aims to foster a collaborative environment where community members and security agencies work hand in hand to ensure a peaceful and secure living space for all.
According to him, security is shared responsibility and the National Security and other agencies cannot do it alone.
He said they need eyes and ears to help maintain peace and order the various communities and the country at large.
The Regional National Security coordinator urged residents to be vigilant and proactive, reminding them that timely information can prevent potential threats and criminal activities.
Nana Darko also assured the public that all information shared would be treated with the utmost confidentiality, ensuring that residents can report without fear of retribution.
The National Security team led by Akosua Ntim Dankwa Sekyere, has been ramping up efforts to address various security challenges, including counter tourism, theft, vandalism, and other forms of crime that have plague the already existing peace in the country.
By encouraging residents to report any unusual behavior or incidents, the security operatives hope to create a more responsive and effective security network.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, Akosua Sekyere outlined various channels through which residents can communicate their concerns, including hotline 999.
She underscored the significance of the communities involvement in national security efforts, nothing that many successful interventions stem from tips and information provided by residents.
Also, Akosua Sekyere encouraged individuals to trust their instincts and report any unusual behaviour of individuals in their locality.
