National Ambulance Service and Ghana Armed Forces Medical Services train 69 Military Emergency Medical Technicians

As part of the efforts to strengthen the Emergency care delivery system in the country, the National Ambulance Service (NAS) and the Ghana Armed Forces Medical Services (GAFMS) have trained 69 Military Emergency Medical Technicians (MEMTs)

The Sixty-Nine (69) Military Emergency Medical Technicians, (MEMTs) who are yet to pass out on Thursday 19th December 2024 at the Quarter Master Yard, 37 Military Hospital, have undergone an intensive one (1) year training programme.

This is the fourth (4) batch of Military Emergency Medical Technicians (MEMTs) that are being churned out by the fruitful collaboration between the National Ambulance Service and the Ghana Armed Forces Medical Services, a collaboration which started in 2013.

The Ghana Armed Forces by its mandate is engaged in various operations nationally and internationally, for which casualties and other forms of ailments are inevitable.

The vision of this training is to therefore train military personnel to come out as highly qualified Military EMTs in order to safeguard the lives of our gallant military personnel and members of the general public as well.

The National Ambulance Service was established in 2004, after the Accra Sports Stadium Disaster which claimed 126 lives. Their core mandate is to provide pre-hospital care to the populace.
