As of efforts to ensure a united front for victory in the December general elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has settled the differences between the Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah Kubi and running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO.
Mr. Appiah Kubi publicly opposed NAPO’s selection as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate, stating that he preferred a candidate more connected to the grassroots, humble, and respectful.
However, NAPO was confirmed by the National Council and unveiled in Kumasi on Tuesday, July 9. On Tuesday, July 16, Andy Appiah Kubi visited NAPO in his office, putting their perceived differences aside.
NAPO and Appiah Kubi pledged to work together to ensure the NPP wins the 2024 general elections, after exchanging pleasantries.
In a Facebook post, the NPP’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye popularly called Nana B, expressed satisfaction with the gesture, stating that the party is now united and poised to “break the eight”.
“The brotherhood is rekindled, NPP vice presidential candidate, Hon Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) and Hon Andy Appiah Kubi earlier today. The NPP is poised to break the 8!!”.
