In a closely contested election, Nana Soglo Alloh IV of the Likpe Traditional Council has been elected as the new President of the Oti Regional House of Chiefs.
Out of 14 votes cast, he polled 8 while the incumbent, Nana Mprah Besemuna secured six votes
The election was held at the regional office on Monday, September 30, 2024.
This marks a significant moment for the Oti Region, as Nana Soglo takes on the responsibility of leading the traditional council in its efforts to promote peace, unity, and development within the region.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, the newly elected President expressed gratitude to the chiefs for the support.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration among the various chiefs to foster a harmonious environment conducive to development.
The President also highlighted several key areas he intends to focus during his tenure which include peace and stability.
He believes that by prioritizing peace and stability, the region can achieve sustainable growth and improve the quality of life for its residents.
Nana Soglo also called for a collective effort to address the pressing issues such as land disputes and resource management, which historically caused divisions among the chiefs.
Nana Mprah Besemuna of Krachi Traditional Council, despite his loss, congratulated Nana Soglo and pledged his support for the news administration.
He said this gesture of goodwill is a positive sign for the future of the Oti House of Chiefs, as its sets the tone for a collaborative approach to leadership.
The elected Vice President of the House Nana Obombo Lepuwura Sewura, also urged for unity among traditional leaders to foster the area development.
According to him, the Oti Region s faced with numerous challenges notable among them was the chief chieftaincy disputes which is retarding the purpose of the creation of the the Oti Region.
He the newly elected members will do everything possible to ensure region regain ts past glory peace.
Nana Odamba Tidibom Kowura, Nana Dasebre Oduro Kruanim and Nana Mprah Besemuna were all elected as members of the national house chiefs.
In a show to support the event, DSP Rtd Daniel Machator, Oti Regional Minister congratulated the newly elected members and advocated for peace and unity in the region.
He stressed the importance of working together to build a better future for all residents of the Region.
