National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has described comments of former President John Mahama on the alleged coup plot in Ghana as irresponsible.
According to Nana B as he is popularly known, the comments of Mr Mahama do not reflect those of a former president and a former Chief Commander of the Ghana Armed Forces.
“The comment of Mr Mahama is reckless and irresponsible because as a former President, he must be worried and concerned but he chose to trivialise the situation,” he said.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam show, Nana B called for the non-politicisation of the issue but wait for the security agencies to get to the bottom of their investigations.
“Ghanaians can make fun of the issue on social media but not a former president,” he said.

Nana B added: “The action of the NDC over this issue is making me to believe they are behind this.”
Mr Mahama, speaking at the 13th Annual Residential Congress of the National Health Students Association at Korle-Bu on Thursday, joined the many who have questioned the plausibility of government’s announcement of an attempted coup in Ghana.
The former President indicated he had joined the #CoupChallenge and explained how some weird weapons could be helpful in a coup.

“There was this challenge going on of people showing possible weapons that can be used in a coup d’état . There was this one that was very intriguing because there was the wooden spatula that is used to stir banku that we popularly call ‘bankuta’ and I said well you can hit the guy with the bankuta and he may fall unconscious,” he said.
