Name the MP paid to kill NSA “ghost names” scandal – Martin Kpebu to A-G [Listen]

Private legal practitioner and member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, Martin Kpebu, has called on the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to publicly disclose the identity of the Member of Parliament(MP) who was allegedly paid to suppress media reports on the National Service Authority (NSA) ghost names scandal.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Mr. Kpebu stressed that revealing the MP’s name would serve the public interest.

“The name of the MP will help. Society is changing, and we need to bring such issues to light. There is no need to shield anyone—they were not born differently from the rest of us,” he stated.

His demand follows Dr. Ayine’s revelation that former NSA Director-General, Osei Assibey Antwi, had allegedly paid a sitting MP to prevent media coverage of the fraudulent payroll scheme, which involved illegally adding ghost names to the payroll.

The Attorney General also confirmed that significant progress had been made in exposing corruption within the scheme.

“If there is evidence, then let’s bring it out. Crime is crime, and no one should be covered up. Even Adu Boahen was named and still being investigated, so if there is evidence against this MP, they should not be exempted,” he stated.

Commenting on Dr. Ayine’s statement that a video of the National Security raid on former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison’s home would be released, Mr. Kpebu insisted that the video alone was not enough to address concerns.

“If you have a video, bring it out, but the video alone won’t solve the problem,” he noted.

He urged the government to set up a Commission of Inquiry to thoroughly investigate the matter.

“There must be a proper inquiry involving all interested parties, just like how we conduct parliamentary probes. The value in such an investigation is that it will uncover more details and ensure proper accountability,” the lawyer added.
