NAFCO supports girls empowerment; donates to FOHGSHS

The National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), has presented an amount of Ten Thousand Six Hundred and Sixty-Two Ghana Cedis (GHC 10,662.00) to the organizers of the Forum of Heads of Girls’ Senior High Schools (FOHGSHS) for their Camp meetings.

Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony at Aburi in the Eastern Region, Corporate Affairs Manager of NAFCO, Mr. Emmanuel J.K Arthur said the gesture which follows an appeal by FOHGSHS was to also demonstrate NAFCO’s commitment to the empowerment of girls in preparation for the future.

“As you may be aware, our CEO, Mr. Hanan Abdul-Wahab is passionate about education, particularly the education of the girl-child, and it is the reason for which he directed this support towards your endeavor”, he said.

“In addition to the money are assorted food items to be used to feed students who will be taking part in this year’s camping.”

Meanwhile, receiving the donation on behalf of FOHGSHS, Assistant Headmistress of Aburi Girls Senior High School, Mrs. Bernice Mensah-Akutteh commended NAFCO for their kind gesture.

The Forum of Heads of Girls’ Senior High Schools (FOHGSHS) is an organization made up of heads of all female Senior High Schools in Ghana and champions the empowerment of the girl-child.

This year’s camp meetings on the theme “The Free SHS Policy and the Education of the Girl Child” is scheduled for July 14 to 20, 2019 at the Aburi Girls Senior High School in the Eastern Region and expected to be attended by 650 female students nationwide and to be opened by Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh.
