The National Chairman for the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of Ghana, Alexander Yaw Danso, has alleged that personnel recruited under the Nations Builders Corps (NaBCO) have taken over teaching in senior high schools under the double track system.
Mr Danso who said he had toured the breadth and length of the country since the implementation of the double track policy, told Dwaso Nsem host Captain Smart that his experience has not been pleasant.

“The NaCOB recruits have filled all the schools and I have sent pictures to some officials. They have taken over the teaching job and the sad thing is that they can’t do the teaching properly,” he indicated.
He asserted that the double track has been implemented poorly with the green track component of students not having enough contact hours till they vacated in November.

“I am yet to see any development in the double track. The free SHS is still dormant because some of the teachers are bitter within and are now reflecting in their jobs. Some are also not committed and dedicated to the process and the policy may not die but the process might not be endearing,” he noted.
The double-track system which comprises of a green and gold stream took off on September 11, 2018, with the track green students enrolling for the 2018/2019 academic year under the second phase of the Free SHS concept.

The gold track students, on the other hand, enrolled on November 8, 2018.
The double-track system is to afford the government with the capacity to deal with a large number of placed candidates who will hitherto not have had the opportunity to access Free SHS as a result of lack of classroom space.
