Naana Opoku-Agyemang concludes tenure as Chancellor of Women’s University in Africa

Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has officially completed her tenure as Chancellor of the Women’s University in Africa (WUA).

She performed her last academic ritual over the weekend in Harare, Zimbabwe, marking both a significant milestone in her career and the 20th anniversary of the university.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, who has been engaged with WUA for the past six years, described her final duties as bittersweet.

During her time as Chancellor, she worked closely with the WUA family, contributing to the university’s growth and success. This year’s trip, she noted, carried mixed emotions as it also marked her farewell graduation ceremony.

Throughout her last week in Harare, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang met with principal officers of the university, faculty members, Council members, student leaders, and other key stakeholders.

The week’s activities culminated in the graduation ceremony, where she had the honor of conferring diplomas, degrees, and prizes to many outstanding students.

Reflecting on her journey with WUA, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed her gratitude and belief that the university would continue to make significant strides.

“We are family – and family does not truly leave family behind,” she remarked.
