The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor, has won the Awutu Senya East seat, defeating the incumbent Member of Parliament, Mavis Hawa Koomson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Naa Koryoo secured 50,886 votes, surpassing Hawa Koomson’s 46,638 votes in a closely contested race.

Her campaign centered on addressing key local concerns and advocating for development, a message that resonated strongly with voters.

Following her victory, Naa Koryoo declared, “This has been a hard-fought win for me. Kasoa is now free and will see development under my watch.”

The announcement was met with jubilation as NDC supporters gathered at the Central East Regional Police Command to celebrate the result.

This victory forms part of a series of gains by the NDC in the 2024 general elections, strengthening their parliamentary standing.
