A 4-year-old boy has drowned in Yirangu a community near Kubori in Mamprugu Moaduri district of the Northern region after a heavy rainfall in the area.
The unfortunate incident according to the District Chief Executive of the Mamprugu Muaduri, Abu Adams occurred on Tuesday evening.
He said the deceased met his untimely death while crossing a big gutter covered by a wooden slab after the rains subsided.

He said the community members upon hearing the news organized a search party to retrieve the body.
The body of the young boy has since been buried.
The DCE said the spillage of the Bagre dam and heavy rainfall in some part of the region is also causing disaster in the district as over 3,000 people are currently displaced.

Many communities within the district that are badly affected includes; Kubori, Kubugu, Kikayiri, Yiranyu, Zamwara, Prima, Lugri, Bugiyinga, Sakpaba, Jadima, Wuyima, Kokua, Kubagna, Licha, Soo, Gorba, Yagaba, Katigri, Bima, Santa, Aaba, Zanloo, Yizisi, Tantala and Namoo.
