Most couples spend years meticulously planning and saving for their special day, but as the pandemic has proven, sadly it doesn’t always go to plan.
In fact, some couples have found themselves having to reschedule their wedding several times over, due to ongoing Covid restrictions meaning they couldn’t go ahead with their original plans.
That’s exactly what happened to one couple, who were forced to reschedule their wedding twice, before things finally looked good to go on their third attempt.
However, disaster struck once more for the couple, when the groom-to-be ended up in hospital with a serious bout of food poisoning on the day of the wedding.

Instead of cancelling the entire day, and no doubt losing an awful lot of money in the process, the groom encouraged his bride to go ahead with the wedding and the alternative they came up with was quite spectacular.
In the absence of the groom, the bride spent her day with a pole on wheels, with an iPad strategically placed with a picture of the groom’s face on it.
A clip shared to TikTok by the wedding venue, @thevictorianyoungsville, shows the bride cutting the cake, with the stickman groom’s arms around her, as well as their first dance, and the ‘groom’ having a good old boogie with some guests.
Of course, it must’ve been devastating that their big day didn’t go to plan, but the groom seemed in good spirits, commenting on the post: “GROOM HERE! HUGE thank you to The Victorian.
“Due to other attempts and hospital regulations, and hopes for me returning to the ceremony, I wanted [my bride] to stay with her friends and family.”
Honestly, you’ve got to admire their determination to finally tie the knot – here’s to hoping the groom was well enough to enjoy the honeymoon!
