Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has acknowledged the role of her father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, in her political career.
According to her, the influential name and her father’s contribution to society paved the way for her, particularly her journey to Parliament.
However, entering Parliament at age 29 and as one of the youngest, she had to work hard to maintain her position and also keep the name afloat.
The former Gender Minister disclosed this in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, stating that her father’s name comes with a bigger responsibility.
“Everybody knows the contribution of my father and if I had failed with this name, it would have been a disgrace. I know I was accepted in Parliament because of that name so I can’t disassociate myself from that name.
“But it comes with a bigger responsibility because I couldn’t let my father’s name and his contribution go down the drain. I met elderly people in Parliament and I had to understudy people to rise through the ranks quickly,” she stated.
The former lawmaker also noted that her background as a lawyer also contributed to her 12-year successful journey in Parliament.
