My appointees will declare their assets within 30 days – Mahama

The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and good governance.

He promised that all appointees in his administration would declare their assets within 30 days of assuming office.

Mahama made this pledge at the NDC’s Governance Forum held in Accra on Thursday, October 31, emphasizing accountability as a cornerstone of his agenda.

“To restore public trust, I will require all members of my administration to declare their assets within 30 days of assuming office,” he stated, underlining this step as crucial in rebuilding public confidence.

Addressing the growing public mistrust in government institutions, Mahama referenced the latest Afrobarometer survey, which shows a decline in confidence among Ghanaians in state bodies.

In response, he outlined plans to revise the codes of conduct for public officials, emphasizing ethical leadership, professionalism, and public responsiveness.

“The recent Afrobarometer report reveals a worrying loss of trust in our institutions. We must work collectively to rebuild that trust,” Mahama said.

“Our administration will review the codes of conduct to ensure public officeholders uphold ethical leadership, professionalism, and efficiency. We must serve the public with humility, modesty, and a commitment to meet their needs.”

Through these initiatives, Mahama envisions a more accountable government dedicated to ethical governance and transparency, promising that an NDC administration will prioritize restoring trust in public institutions if elected.
