My aim is to qualify Sudan for 2026 World Cup – Kwesi Appiah

-

Coach Kwesi Appiah has stated that his main goal is to guide Sudan to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The former Ghana national team coach was appointed as Sudan’s head coach earlier this year under a long-term contract.

Appiah has started the World Cup qualifiers strongly, with Sudan currently leading Group B with 10 points from four matches, two points ahead of former African champions, Senegal.

Under his leadership, the Falcons of Jediane have secured three wins and one draw in their qualifying campaign.

In an interview, Appiah, who also serves as the Technical Director for Asante Kotoko, emphasized that his primary focus is to lead Sudan to their first-ever World Cup appearance, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

“My top priority is to qualify Sudan for the 2026 World Cup. Sudan has never been to the World Cup, but I hope God will use me as an instrument to make it happen” Appiah said on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

Sudan’s next challenge in the qualifiers is a crucial match against Senegal, where they aim to solidify their position at the top of the group.
