MTN FA Cup Round of 16 to proceed without Asante Kotoko

-

The Round of 16 matches of the MTN FA Cup will proceed without Asante Kotoko, Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, Wilson Arthur, has confirmed.

Despite resuming training today, the Porcupine Warriors have opted out of official competitions until justice is served following the tragic death of their supporter, Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.

Pooley was fatally attacked at Nana Kronmansah Park during Kotoko’s Matchday 19 clash against Nsoatreman FC, an incident that led to the indefinite suspension of the Ghana Premier League.

However, with the FA Cup set to resume this weekend, Arthur has assured that the competition will continue as scheduled, though Kotoko’s fixture will be postponed.

“The Round of 16 games will go ahead as planned across the various venues but without Asante Kotoko,” he told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

“I know they are resuming training today, and what I know is that a date will be fixed for their game,” he added.

Asante Kotoko was originally scheduled to host Sekondi Eleven Wise at the Baba Yara Stadium.
