Collins Owusu Amankwah, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Manhyia North Constituency in the Ashanti region, has justified the need for security for MPs.
According to him, recent events of theft at the Vice President’s residence in Walawale and the death of the New Patriotic Party treasurer are alarming factors that require urgent attention.

He said MPs are in constant competition with others to represent constituencies which might attract enemies.
“Because we represent a lot of people, there are eyes on us and the way the media perceive us make it look like we have so much money which makes us targets of bad men,” he said.

“The attacks on politicians are becoming one too many, we need security to prevent recent events from happening again,” he told Accra-based Neat FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.
