Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara, believes most of the current Black Stars squad lacks top-tier quality.
Ghana’s senior national team has struggled to make an impact in recent international tournaments, suffering early exits at the last three competitions held in Qatar, Cameroon, and Ivory Coast.
The team’s woes deepened further after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), finishing bottom of Group F with just three points from three draws and three defeats.
Speaking on the team’s poor performances, Sannie Daara, who is now part of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) media team, attributed the struggles to a lack of top-quality players.
“Apart from Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, and Thomas Partey, a lot of Black Stars players are average,” he told Sporty FM.
Despite missing out on AFCON qualification, Ghana will aim to bounce back with an improved showing when they take on Chad and Madagascar in the next round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March.
