In a groundbreaking move, the Mortuary and Funeral Facilities Agency (MoFFA) has announced that mortuary workers in Ghana will soon be required to take licensing exams before they can be employed.
This historic move aims to ensure that mortuary workers operate in a safe and regulated environment.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MoFFA, Dr. Yaw Twerefour has said this new requirement is in line with the agency’s laws and regulations.
Speaking at a conference in Accra, Dr. Twerefour emphasized the importance of this initiative, urging mortuary workers and the public to comply.
The licensing exams will be a significant step towards professionalizing the mortuary industry in Ghana.
Currently, many mortuary workers learn their skills through apprenticeships, which can lead to inconsistencies in quality and safety standards.
By introducing licensing exams, MoFFA aims to establish a uniform standard of practice for mortuary workers, ensuring that they possess the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely and effectively.
Dr Twerefour urged the public to report in case or problems concerning Mortuary Facilities to their office at the Ministry of Health and shall be addressed.
