Tragedy struck Goaso as a Hyundai Aero Town minibus, carrying over 50 workers from Infixwood Limited, collided with a timber truck on the Mim-Goaso stretch.
The incident took place on Friday morning around 5a.m when the car with registration number AC 775-24 was transporting the staff to work.
The accident claimed the lives of eight people and left 42 others injured, marking a devastating Black Friday for the community.
According to reports, the minibus driver attempted to overtake the timber truck but ended up veering into it due to smoke emanating from the truck, which obscured his vision.
The impact of the collision was severe, leading to multiple fatalities and injuries.
The injured were initially rushed to Goaso Municipal Hospital for treatment.
However, those in critical condition were transferred to nearby hospitals for further medical attention.
The incident has left the Goaso community in shock, as authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
