Omowunmi, the widow of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has agreed to undergo a DNA test to establish the paternity of their son, Liam.
The agreement, confirmed by a statement from the family’s legal representative follows months of tension and legal battles within the family over the issue.
Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2024, under controversial circumstances, and was laid to rest the following day in Ikorodu, Lagos.
However, due to public demand for answers, his body was exhumed for an autopsy shortly after burial.
Following his death, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, initiated legal action seeking a DNA test to confirm the paternity of Liam, his late son’s only child.
Efforts to serve Omowunmi with the legal documents initially faced obstacles, with her representatives claiming unsuccessful attempts at service.
Consequently, the Magistrates Court in Ikorodu directed both parties to explore alternative dispute resolution options, resulting in several rounds of negotiations behind closed doors. These efforts, however, failed to yield an agreement.
Odumosu’s statement, issued on Sunday, October 27, 2024, reveals that Omowunmi has now consented to the DNA test, with both parties reaching a consensus on the settlement terms.
