Mohbad’s Death: Court clears Naira Marley, Sam Larry

-

A Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, has cleared popular musician Abdulazeez Fashola, known as Naira Marley, of any involvement in the death of late singer Aloba Oladimeji Ilerioluwa, popularly called Mohbad.

Also exonerated were music promoter Samson Balogun Eletu (Sam Larry), Mohbad’s former manager Opere Babatunde, and Owodunni Ibrahim, known as Primeboy.

The ruling followed legal advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), which found no evidence linking them to the singer’s death.

However, the DPP recommended the prosecution of Mohbad’s auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and his friend, Ayobami Sadiq, for reckless and negligent acts under Section 251 (e) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015. Their trial will continue at the Magistrate Court.

Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s Marlian Music, passed away under controversial circumstances in September 2023, sparking widespread outrage and demands for justice.
