Mohammed Kudus scores but gets sent off in West Ham defeat at Tottenham

-

Mohammed Kudus was sent off during West Ham’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, despite initially putting his team ahead.

The Ghana forward opened the scoring in the 18th minute, converting a cross from Jarrod Bowen to give West Ham an early lead.

However, Spurs responded in the 36th minute when Dejan Kulusevski’s shot hit both posts before finding the net, levelling the score.

Tottenham’s dominance continued into the second half, especially after James Maddison was replaced by Pape Matar Sarr. Just seven minutes later, Yves Bissouma finished off Destiny Udogie’s cutback to give Spurs the lead.

Son Heung-min, who was instrumental throughout the match, saw his shot saved by West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, but the ball deflected off Jean-Clair Todibo and into the net, increasing Spurs’ advantage.

Five minutes later, Son added another goal, capitalizing on a loose ball after West Ham failed to clear. Despite missing a similar chance shortly afterward, Tottenham maintained control.

The match took a dramatic turn when Kudus was sent off after a VAR review showed him pushing both Sarr and Micky van de Ven in the face, resulting in a red card.

The loss leaves West Ham in 14th place with 8 points, having won just two matches this season after eight games in the Premier League.

Kudus, who has scored twice in 10 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers, is now set to serve a three-match suspension.
