Ghana legend, Charles Assampong Taylor, has claimed that Mohammed Kudus is a better football than Brazil and Real Madrid forward, Vinícius Júnior.
Kudus made a significant impact at West Ham United last season, netting 14 goals and providing six assists during his debut campaign.
He also played a crucial role in helping West Ham reach the quarterfinals of the Europa League and set a record for the most successful dribbles in a single Premier League game against Chelsea. By the end of the season, he was recognized as Europe’s top dribbler.
In contrast, Vinícius Júnior was pivotal for Real Madrid’s double triumph last season, securing both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
Despite Vinícius being a leading contender for the Ballon d’Or, Taylor believes Kudus would be equally, if not more, influential if he were at Real Madrid.
“Kudus is a better footballer than Vinicius Jr. If Kudus were to be at Real Madrid, he’d have been the main man in the team,” Taylor, who played for both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak said on Angel TV.
“The quality that Kudus displays, Vinicius doesn’t match up but it’s because we don’t believe in our own players and the lack of quality pitches here,” he added.
Taylor, who was one of the most thrilling players in the Ghana Premier League during the late 1990s and early 2000s, was a key member of Hearts’ legendary 64 Battalion that won the league, FA Cup, and CAF Champions League in 2000.
As the new season progresses, Mohammed Kudus and Vinícius Júnior are set to return to action with their respective clubs in the Premier League and La Liga this weekend.
