Gospel musician, Nana Yaw Boakye, popularly known as MOG Music, recently opened up about the traumatic experience of losing his 7-month-old baby.
In an emotional revelation, he recounted the heart-wrenching events that led to the loss and how he and his wife, despite their grief, turned to their faith for strength.
On a Monday morning, MOG Music received a distressing call from his wife, who was at work.
“She called me around 11: am and said, ‘Baby, I have not heard the baby kick the whole day” he recalled.
Concerned, he immediately called his mother for advice. The couple then rushed to the hospital, where a nurse conducted a scan to check the baby’s heartbeat.
Meanwhile, the nurse’s refusal to communicate the situation immediately left them in suspense and agony, as she asked them to wait for the doctor.
“Around this time, my wife couldn’t hold her tears; she was gone, and I was encouraging her. I took her to the car, sat her down, put my hands on her stomach, and started calling the name of Jesus, hoping that our ears would hear good news,” MOG Music shared in an interview with MzGee Ghana.
When the doctor finally arrived and performed another scan, he delivered the devastating news: “I don’t know what happened, but the baby is not alive.” MOG Music and his wife were shattered.
Additionally, the hospital’s lack of a morgue forced them to carry their deceased baby to a certified morgue to obtain a death certificate and subsequently arrange for the burial.
Despite the immense grief, the couple chose to attend church the following Sunday to thank God.
However, when MOG Music began his praise ministration, his wife broke down in tears.
Their pastor, Sam Korankye Ankrah, took to the pulpit to announce the unfortunate incident.
He then delivered a prophecy, assuring the couple that they would give birth to a boy named Joshua within a year.
Remarkably, exactly one year after the loss, on August 11, they welcomed their son, Joshua.
MOG Music shared that they have since been blessed with two more children and intend to continue growing their family, embracing the biblical command to multiply.
This touching story of faith and resilience highlights the strength MOG Music and his wife found in their belief, as they navigated one of life’s most painful experiences.
