Minority must have a big heart; there is a long way to go – Adongo [Video]

Bolgatanga Central Member of Parliament (MP), Isaac Adongo, has urged the Minority caucus to exercise restraint as the Mahama-led administration works to fulfill its promises.

According to Adongo, President John Mahama has just started his tenure, and with four years ahead, there’s ample time to deliver on the government’s goals.

Adongo made these comments in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, responding to the Minority’s criticism of Mahama’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA).

The Minority had accused the President of delivering a speech filled with lamentations instead of providing solutions.

“Even before the presentation, they had their speech ready. So when Afenyo-Markin started reading, I was wondering if they knew what he was going to say. They must know that we have a long way to go,” Adongo cautioned.

Reacting to the speech in Parliament, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin criticized the President for repeating grievances about the economy without offering clear solutions.

Afenyo-Markin also questioned the President’s claims of reducing the size of government, noting that while ministerial appointments have been trimmed, the number of presidential staffers and committees has increased.

However, Adongo defended the President’s approach, saying it was necessary for Mahama to first paint a clear picture of the current state of the economy before outlining his vision for the future.

“The President had to paint the picture to inform the basis of his vision because the existing reality may be blurry,” he explained.
