The Minority in Parliament on Monday ignored and refused to comment on a statement made by the New Patriotic Part (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan.
The norm in the House is that a Minority member makes a statement after a Majority member has put an issue before the House.
The NPP MP, after being sworn-in on February 5, 2019, a ceremony which was boycotted by the Minority in Parliament, gave her maiden statement in commemoration of the World Health Day.

While she was still talking, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs reportedly exhibited disinterest.
They further refused to make any contribution after her statement when called upon to contribute by the Speaker, Prof. Mike Ocquaye.
The Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak turned down the Speaker’s invitation for comments from the Minority.
“Pass the microphone on,” were the words by the Minority Chief Whip.
That was the second time the Minority had shunned the MP after they staged a walkout during her swearing-in ceremony on February 5, 2019 on account that they could not accept her as a member of the House due to the circumstances that marred her victory in the by-election that brought her to the House.
