Minority ‘blacklisted’ in $1 million, one constituency policy – Muntaka cries [listen]

-

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asawase Constituency, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, is accusing the government of leaving members of the Minority in Parliament out of the government’s policy of $1 million, one constituency.

According to him, his constituency for instance, has not felt the impact since its inception three years ago.

“This one million per constituency is not working. Those of us from the Minority have been cut out of the $1 million, one constituency policy. The Minority has been cut out of the 1 million one constituency because no Minority MP can testify he or she has received it because if such monies have been disbursed, there will be a release for us to know,” he said.

He said he receives copies of releases of the District Assembly Common Fund and not the $1 million, one constituency policy.

“I get copies of releases for the assembly common fund so if our monies are given, why won’t I get such releases?” he quizzed.

He was speaking on Nhyira FM’s KuroYi Mu Nsem on Thursday.

The Asawase MP said he always attends meetings in the district and has raised the issue but there has still been no results.

He said he had written officially to the Ministry of Local Government to explain how much of the $1 million, one constituency had been used for in his constituency.

“I always support my constituency with my common fund. I have asked the Ministry to tell me how much my constituency, for instance, has received because I don’t know anything about it,” he argued.
