Milana May embarks on historic freedom swim across Lake Bosomtwe

-

Renowned American-Siberian musical artist and eco advocate, Milana May is embarking on a monumental challenge by swimming across Lake  Bosomtwe in the Ashanti region.

The 26-year-old kickstarted her journey today, September 20 and will end on Monday, September 23, 2024, in a bid to promote eco-tourism and raise awareness about environmental conservation.

This extraordinary event, dubbed the “Milana  May Freedom Swim,” will highlight the significance of protecting Lake Bosomtwe and promoting sustainable tourism in Kumasi.

The swimming which will cover approximately 24km across (both ways) the pristine crater lake, is  part of Milana’s larger mission to inspire people globally to reconnect with nature, support eco friendly travel, participate in conservation efforts and self-realise the state of well-being and  balance.

“Swimming across Lake Bosomtwe is not just about the sport and holiday celebration; it’s  about bringing attention to how precious and fragile our ecosystems are. We are called to do everything we can to protect and nourish these natural environments for  our lifetime and future generations,” Milana May said in a statement.

The event will start from Abono side of the Lake, precisely from Paradise Resort and landing at Ankaase on the 21st, while Milana takes her rest on the 22nd.

She will then embark on the return swim from Ankaase to Abono on the 23rd of  September 2024.

Spectators are invited to watch from designated viewing points around the lake or embark on a VIP boat ride to follow the swim next to Milana and her security team.
