Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that discussions are progressing regarding a contract extension for midfielder Thomas Partey.
The Ghanaian international is currently in the final year of his deal with the Gunners, sparking speculation about his future ahead of the summer transfer window.
Partey has already attracted interest from European heavyweights Barcelona and Juventus.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Ipswich Town, Arteta suggested that negotiations are ongoing between the club and the player’s representatives.
“Yes, there’s progress with all the players. I’ll leave that to Andrea and the club to decide and to talk about,” said Arteta.
Partey has played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s campaign this season, most recently delivering a standout performance as the Gunners secured a stunning midweek victory over European champions Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The former Atlético Madrid midfielder has made 46 appearances across all competitions this season, contributing four goals and three assists.
